Senate
The Executive branch represents the student body. This is done through student elected senators. Each Residence Hall is represented by 1 or 2 senators along with senators for Commuter students and students who live in Biola’s off-campus apartments. The 15 member senate meets weekly to discuss pertinent issues. The senate decides the budget of AS, which is about $500,000 a year. Any money that is not allocated can be solicited by various members of the student body, pending senate approval.
The senators are also the direct representatives of the student body at large. They have the duties of informing students of issues, getting feedback on decisions, and serving on university committees.
The Associated Students (AS) Senators are to serve as representatives of their assigned constituents (residence halls, apartment buildings, or commuters). Senators primarily communicate the needs and opinions of students to the administration through the Senate meetings and lobbying to the Administration. Senators are to keep residents informed of administrative and AS news.
