ALPHA Girl's Biggest Concerns!!!!!!!!!!!

Alpha girls recently wrote their biggest concerns for Alpha and Biola and placed them in a blue suggestion box at the front desk in Alpha lobby. I received a lot of helpful responses and here are the results of those comments:

35 girls responded (Percents Rounded)

23% -Better lobby

17%-Tv in lobby fixed

14% -Library open later than 12 am

11%-Re-paint lobby

9%- Study room/ prayer room updated

6%-Alpha residence halls painted bright colors over the white walls

6%-Better Decorations for the Residence Halls

6% -Sun Deck fixed up

3%-More interaction w/ men

3%-Change machine that takes bills as small as $5

3%- More fun lower division elective classes ex: underwater basket weaving, more options for general Ed (also the option to take more than 30 units of Bible for non-Bible majors)

• You will notice that 56 % had to do with fixing up our lobby

Thank you girls for all your feedback! I have sent these results and a “wish list” to the A.S. VP Cami Cress and she will pass them on the administration who will look over the list and see what they can do.

I do have a few responses I can tell you right now:

14% of girls wanted the LIBRARY OPEN PAST 12 AM. We recently tried to get the library to open earlier on Sundays. It was discovered that in order to do this they would need to switch the hours of the workers, find people willing to work more at these hours and it would cost an extra $3000+. However they were accommodating enough to offer to switch some of the hours where the library is less used to Sunday. So for the Library to be open past 12 am would be a similar situation. Unless their budget is increased and they can find students who want to stay up past 12 am to work, this will not be likely to happen. So I will let them know your requests, but it is not likely to happen anytime soon. However the SUB is always open to use for studying or hanging out and when the library is closed you can go there.

As for MORE INTERACTION WITH MEN. Unfortunately this is not just due to us being in Alpha. Biola has a much higher ratio of girls than boys, so you really just have to seek them out yourself. One great way is to get to know your brother floor. You can ask you RA who they are and when your next event with them is and make sure you attend. But I would encourage you to walk on over to your brother floor, introduce yourself and make friends with them. I know that can be intimidating, but other girls have done it before and made good friendships this way.
