MEMORANDUM FOR A.S. PRESIDENT / EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

SUBJECT: Alpha Improvements
1. Proposal: We are proposing for $600 for improvements to be made to Alpha through the purchase of various items that are necessary in a college dorm. . 2. Amount Requested: $600
3. Problems with the Status Quo: There are items that are essential in a college dorm. Among these, we have been missing a few for at least this school year. We have put off proposing for these items because we have been actively attempting to find these needs met by ResLife, facilities, or maintenance. However, we have explored these options, and none of the departments are willing or able to assist us in these areas. After much persistence and research, we have come to the conclusion that our only option is to propose to the senate.
4. Miscellaneous: These are not things that would be nice for our dorm to have, and they are not merely to be aesthetically pleasing. They are fundamentals that many of you have in your dorms and may take for granted. Our constituents have lived without these essentials for too long, so we are going to change that.

When is this being decided if it hasn’t already? Thanks Jen & Cheryl, this was really needed. We’ve gone too long with a dark study room, and empty prayer room, and no television. :)

Is AS usually required to pay for furnishing the dorms? It seems that if these requests are connected to general upkeep of the dorm, Biola should (and probably does) have a separate fund for this. Am I incorrect about this?

Yeah, the tv is kind of sorry. I miss being able to watch movies with my friends in Alpha because of the lack of a DVD player.
