Candyland

MEMORANDUM FOR A.S. PRESIDENT / EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
FROM: Cheryl Massingill, Jennifer Roman
Alpha Senators
SUBJECT: Candyland Proposal
1. Proposal: The past six years Alpha East and West have joined together on October 31st to turn the lobby and hallways of Alpha Chi into a brightly decorated Candyland. This provides a safe environment for the children of the surrounding neighborhoods to trick-or-treat and play games. It also gives Biola an opportunity to minister to the community.
2. Amount Requested: $1,525. This amount includes supplies for decorations, rental equipment, candy, and prizes for the children.
3. Problems with the Status Quo: The products we invest in each year are for the most part disposable such as the candy, prizes, art supplies, and rentals. Although the Residence Life staff has been very careful in preserving the decorations, about 1000 individuals pass through Alpha Chi each year during this event and some things now require replacement. Thus the large amount requested (see breakdown on second page).
4. Miscellaneous: For the past few years, Alpha Chi and AS have worked together to put on the event. This is a great opportunity for Residence Life and AS to unite with a common purpose. We would also welcome any help from AS members who would be interested in serving through preparation or for the event itself.
