Commuters Christmas Party

  • ? of ?

UPDATE: PASSED FOR $400 ON 11/18/08.

11/11/08 MEMORANDUM FOR AS SENIOR VP/SENATE FROM: Justin De Vesta and Cynthia Pimentel, Commuter Senators SUBJECT: All Commuter Christmas Party

1. Proposal: We are proposing that AS fund our annual Christmas Party. This event is open to ALL commuters, not just those with a Collegium membership. The Christmas Party is the commuters’ only real tradition and we would like to keep it going. We have a fun theme this year along with a great line up of entertainment that is coming free of charge. During this time, we will also be able to communicate with our constituents and give them information about current proposals and events. An event such as this will bring commuters to a location where we can reach them. In addition, we think that this event will be a nice way to welcome people to the Collegium, hopefully resulting in more of them becoming members.

2. Amount Requested: $400

3. Problems with the status quo: Commuters do not really have a centralized place to come and get informed as the dorm residents do. In addition, a majority of the commuters are not members of the Collegium, which makes it a challenge to communicate with more of our constituents. These issues make it difficult for commuters to stay in tune with the happenings around campus. This event would bring people together and let them know that they are important to the community.

4. Miscellaneous: Cost Break Down

-Entertainment = $0 -We have acts lined up that are not charging us.

-Decorations = $0 -Commuter Life buys the Christmas tree and all decorations.

-Food = $300 -This includes appetizers, desserts, drinks, candy, paper goods, etc.

-Marketing = $50 -We are making small business card size handouts and larger advertisements. This is basically the cost for the cardstock paper and ink for the printers.

-Prizes = $50
