Apparently we are almost a third of the way through the semester. Some people are already taking midterms. The weekend comes just as fast as the weekdays. By the time I realize I've got a case of the mondays, it's already friday. This update isn't here to say much except that for those of you who are getting tired or worn out, just keep up hope throughout the week because friday is never more than seven days away. Friday, for many of you it's a no class day. It means late nights, no homework. Some go surfing, some go to disneyland. I don't know if there's any more history to the creation of the week other than the seven days God spent on creation, but I'm just glad that no one decided to make the weeks ten days long. Friday's are great. They're a sign of completion, for some a symbol of survival. They can be a day of rest, but for most, they're a day to play hard. Because whether or not we like to admit it, monday will come soon and the homework has to get done on saturday or sunday. But not today. Today is Friday. If We Wanted To Be Wet, We'd Play Water Polo

It was brought to my attention that the sprinklers come on around the basketball court at eight-ish when the basketball court is open until ten. I took this issue to facilities and grounds crew and the sprinkler time has since been adjusted. Nothing feels better than taking concerns of yours and getting something done about them. So in the future, if you ever have an issue or complaint about Biola or Hope North, feel free to take it to me and I will do whatever I can to help you. It's often the small things around campus that improve life, and often it's the small things that can feasibly be fixed. So bring it on, I want to help. I'm here to serve you.Nationball: Why we must win

Hope North is large. Hope North is in charge. Nationball is of the greatest dorm competitions and events that occurs at Biola University. Nationball is not just a game, it is more than a way of life. Nationball is the culmination of hundreds of students and their hard work. We don't wear pink because of the stereotypes. We wear pink to give the competition a chance to run when they see our bright spirit shining from afar. September 10th. 10pm. We wear pink because we are proud. We will fight, and we will win.I'm an Eagle Scout, So Trust Me On This

One thing that is unique to lower campus life is that we get the pleasure of trekking up the steep hill to the cafe several times a day (Except for this saturday when I stayed in my room all day and survived on PB&J). Biola recognized the gravity of this journey and just this year we received an actual walkway as to reduce the risk of vehicular-pedestrian interference, or as I like to call it, "the frogger effect". Thus far I've relished this new "foot movers only" path, though I don't suggest walking it barefoot (the concrete pattern is similar to walking on sandpaper). I do however worry that this hill needs more signage. Personally, I find that my excess height makes me well adapted to climbing steep surfaces, and my mountain climbing experience has made me well versed in hill climbing techniques. I worry though for those of you who find themselves less apt to adopt a new incline or adapt their inner ear to a changing slope. The other day I was departing the cafe with some of my comrades when we spotted a campus safety SUV flashing their lights and low and behold there lie a fallen peer, immobilized by what I could only guess to be a swift fall due to the potently canted hill. All this to say, be careful. Biola is a safe community but sometimes we forget the many simple dangers that we face every day. My suggestion is to lean forward a little bit when you walk up the hill and to lean back when you go down the hill. Ladies, if you are in compromisingly high heels, I suggest you forgo the cafe hill and take the detour of the bookstore parking lot. Be careful out there.Retreat: Big Bear, Bigger fun

The AS retreat was this weekend and we went to Big Bear. It was a great time and I got to know a lot of AS much better. The Retreat gave me a lot of ideas on how to serve you and continued to assure me that being the Hope North senator is the job for me. My favorite event was the hike up to Castle rock. We hiked about a mile up a mountain and then climbed up this tall rock structure where we were able to look out over all of Big Bear Lake. I love hiking and nature and it was just a blessing to be reminded of the presence of God's beauty everywhere. School is a busy stressful thing and we all need a retreat in one way or another. I know the floors go on their own retreats but it's important to get off campus throughout the semester and devote a little time to forgetting how much we all have to do. I know for me: with the end of the semester comes many more late night visits to Denny's with my friends. But I digress, the retreat was great and I know that all of AS is super excited to serve the Biola Community. Go Biola. Go Big Bear. Go Be Great.Welcome Back, Welcome Back, Welcome Back

Hope North Senator
It is important that I accurately represent the residents of Hope North. I will work hard to keep students up to date about current AS issues and events. If you ever have a question concern or just something to say please email, call, or stop by my room. Look for me around campus; I’m the really tall one. I know Hope North is a great dorm and that’s why it is crucial for your opinion to be heard. I’m fast, thorough, and sharp as a tack; you can find me touring the facility and picking up slack. I get up early, stay up late and I use a machete to cut through red tape.
