These proposals were voted on 2/19 and they were all passed. I voted in favor of S’more Lovin and the Chime proposal and abstained from voting on the Commuter Pizza Party Proposal. If you have any follow up questions please don’t hesistate to contact me and if you are curious to know why all the Senators voted the way they did, please check the Senate Minutes.
Marshmallow Event “S’more Lovin” Amount Requested: $120
The Chimes is proposing for the current Chimes Online Multimedia Editor position to become a paid position through AS. Amount Requested: The new position would be minimum wage ($8) and 15 hours a week.
Commuter Pizza Party Amount Requested: $200
First off, I think that the S’more Lovin event is very creative and would love to see more people atleast propose for events like these. I think that many students will definitely attend and have a lot of fun. I mean come on, who doesn’t want S’more Lovin on Valentine’s Day =)
The Commuter Pizza Party seems like a good use of $200 because it serves a dual purpose. 1.) It provides a community event for commuters, a segment of students that don’t normally benefit from the student fee. & 2.) It serves as a “pre-party” to the AS info night to encourage commuters to run for positions in AS.
As far as the Chimes Online Multimedia Editor position, I don’t have a strong stance. How many of you actually read the Chimes Online? Do you see this as a good use of student fees? Is this something that improves the collegiate experience and overall adds professionalism to our school?
