September 28, 2009 MEMORANDUM FOR AS SENIOR VP/SENATE

FROM: Producers; Alex Miranda & Evan Walker

SUBJECT: The BIOLA Film “A Quiet Fire”

1. Proposal: This proposal is to sponsor the post production process for the BIOLA Film: A Quiet Fire, Directed by Ryan Leith. Essentially, we are proposing to extend the 2009 student film beyond BIOLA University, which is already in place to premiere in various film festivals, including its entry into the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in Utah 2010. This is the first BIOLA Film to be shot on the RED Camera, which is the premiere camera in Hollywood to date (recent blockbuster films shot on RED: District 9, The Gamer & Knowing). The cast includes Demetrius Grosse who has starred in ER, Heroes & CSI Miami among others. The film also includes BIOLA’s very own Joel Sappington (Son of BIOLA Professor Thomas Sappington) and Tyson Sullivan. We would like to invite the student body of BIOLA to experience our premiere that will be held at a private screening in the Garden Walk of Anaheim. 2. Amount Requested: $3,000 Breakdown is as follows:

a. Garden Walk of Anaheim (Special Screening): $1000 b. DVD: Duplication, labels & casing: $600 c. Advertisement (posters/postcards…) & Website: $1000 d. Professional Color Correction: $400

3. Status Quo: With your help this film has the potential to get BIOLA’s name known in Hollywood and the rest of the Entertainment Industry. We believe this film has the potential to reach an international market and show what BIOLA students are doing in the industry today, and what BIOLA University as a whole is all about. We hope this form of attention will peak the interests of countless young film makers looking for an institution to produce films at a high end, and deliver purposeful messages of their faith. Lastly, the product of this project has the potential to inspire and create a buzz on campus within our own student body, and create opportunities to raise money for more AS Funding for other student events. Investing in A Quiet Fire would be to invest in BIOLA’s students and excel the quality of projects being made and produced here. It will further propel the vision to impact the world for the Lord Jesus Christ.

4. How this film will benefit the students of BIOLA: This film was put together by students outside of BIOLA as well, so we are excited to see both the integration of BIOLA & non BIOLA students. Our hope is that the deep themes of forgiveness & racial reconciliation will leave everyone who watches A Quiet Fire better than when they came in. But more than that our hope is that this film will inspire other students to ask how they can creatively use their own talents. It will allow students to witness the impact of their education on the culture. It also sets a high standard of professional accomplishment and acclaim before the student body. The caliber of this film testifies credibility to not only the film school of BIOLA, but BIOLA University itself. It will encourage all students to better appreciate the education they are receiving by enjoying the fruits of its programs. This student film bears testimony to the quality of teaching & resources that BIOLA has to offer. Additionally it has the potential to increase the student body of BIOLA by attracting prospective students striving to be part of the BIOLA film program. It will inspire current students to do more, be more creative and ask how they can impact the culture through their majors and departments. It challenges students to produce quality work, projects or events. Whether that is through film, an art show, community outreaches, missionary work, teaching and more. It challenges us to be set apart and called to serve at higher standard.
