MacBooks for Radio Giveaway

SUBJECT: MacBooks
1. Proposal
1a. We are looking to give away two MacBooks to the Biola community. We want to give the Biola community a great opportunity to win something that is not only fun and enjoyable but is also necessary for properly functioning as a student. The MacBooks are now at $1099 and more than sufficient for all student activities, both academic and social. I am immediately aware of quite a few students who are in the unfortunate position of needing new computers to finish their Biola education but are well in debt as it is. It is our heart’s desire to be able to unite with the Senate on this opportunity. 1b. We understand that the Senate is limited in what is available. Our hearts desire is to be able to bless a couple of students with new computers, but if the request is too much given the financial limits we would like to request at least one MacBook to give away. With this in mind, we do still pray that proposal #1 is considered in and of itself as serious desire on the part of us at Biola Radio.
2. Amount Requested a. $2200 ($1099 per MacBook) b. $1100
3. Problems with Status Quo Biola students pay quite a bit of money for tuition and are often left struggling with old computers just trying to make it through their undergraduate degree. At our radio show we are attempting to fulfill a few goals with respect to what we are offering. We want to bless a couple of Biola students with these computers, we want to draw praiseworthy attention to the Senate for funding the giveaways and making it possible, we want Biola students to apply themselves and participate in the giveaway process (a competition as yet to be determined), we want to draw attention to and raise support for the relatively unknown Biola radio program, and we want to represent Biola University as students who went out of their way to honor others in our last semester here.
4. Miscellaneous Our club is a biola radio program airing two hours per week (Tuesday nights from 10pm-midnight). We represent Biola through humor, late night relaxation, advice, professional interaction through debate (we have four scholars coming on to do to separate debates in the next couple of months), and giveaways. So far we have given away a $400 Royalcaribbean Cruise, a $300 windows media player, a $200 IPOD, and we are in the process of giving away four $50 1gig IPOD shuffles and a handful of gas cards and nice dinner gift certificates. Most of our giveaways were paid for out of our own pocket. We would really appreciate this opportunity to be of service to others and to show the students they are supported and blessed by their student body senate. Thank you for your time.
