CSP Missions Out Reach
18 March 2008 MEMORANDUM FOR A.S. PRESIDENT / SENATE
FROM: Abraham Miranda, Student Director, California School Project—Biola Division, and Ariel Okamoto, Financial Manager, California School Project—Biola Division
SUBJECT: Missions Conference Outreach Week
1. Proposal: We are planning Spiritual Emphasis Weeks at the high schools we work with during the week of Missions Conference at Biola. During this time, we will partner with Christian clubs at those high schools in hosting rallies, evangelizing with them on their campuses, and giving them resources and ideas to follow up with the students with whom they speak. We would like to provide them with tracts, Bibles, surveys, and info cards, as well as encourage the Biola community to join us in evangelism by advertising with flyers, posters, and brochures. We will finish the day back at Biola by providing pizza at a debrief meeting.
2. Amount Requested: $3,735 - Tracts: 5,000×0.30 = 1500 - Bibles: 500×3.00 = 1500 - Surveys: 5,000 (2/page) ? 2500 pages x 0.03 + 5 (cutting) = 80 - Church/Club Info Cards: 5,000 (4/page) ? 1250 pages x 0.10 (cardstock) + 5 cutting = 130 - Advertising: = 275 – Flyers: 25 – Posters: 50 – Brochures: 200 – Pizzas for Debrief Meeting: 50×5 = 250
3. Problems with Status Quo: During Missions Conference week, Biola students receive much encouragement to share the gospel with people, whether they go out on an international mission field or remain on a mission field here in the U.S. We provide opportunity for them to go out that week and participate in a hands-on missions experience by having conversations with high school students. There are needs overseas, but there are also needs right here in our local communities. Thus, we provide a good way to apply what we learn in the Missions Conference sessions. We are also offering Cultural Exploration conference credit on Wednesday, and we hope that this benefit will help draw students to take advantage of going evangelizing with our ministry. Getting publicity out prior to that week, in addition to the announcements in Missions Conference sessions, will aid in spreading the word and building excitement.
4. Miscellaneous: We believe that this event will not only draw Biola students together in a focused missionary aim but will also make a tremendous impact for Christ on high school campuses, both in the lives of the Christians we support and also in the lives of non-Christian students to whom we will speak.
