MEMORANDUM FOR A.S. SENIOR VP / SENATE FROM: Ellie Pappuleas & Andrew Watkins – Film Festival Producers SUBJECT: 2009 Biola Film Festival Budget
1. Proposal: The festival staff requests the support of A.S. in helping fund the 2009 Biola Film Festival. With the support of A.S., we hope to create a unifying event that brings together the student body through films of Biola’s own outstanding students.
2. Amount Requested: $9,500 to help finance sound design, HD projection, screen, video routing, décor, set construction, advertising, and catering. The 2007 and 2008 film festivals were granted $5,000 from A.S. Currently we have $1,500 from previous ticket sales and sponsorship.
3. Problems with Status Quo: In order to create an event that displays the professionalism of Biola to industry professionals, prospective students, and their parents, the need to create a lasting and positive impression must be satisfied. We are building sets, using black curtains to line the side walls of Sutherland, using high quality sound and HD Projection to best display students’ work, and coordinating an after party for all attendees. We hope to bring the Film Festival to all new heights and outdo past years’ festivals technically, visually, and organizationally.
4. Miscellaneous: We anticipate 700-750 attendees. Biola Film Festival May 1, 2008 Sutherland Auditorium Doors Open at 7:00 pm Show Starts at 7:30 pm $8 Students, Faculty, Alumni $10 General Admission
