ISA Funds Transfer

SUBJECT: Transfer of funds to International Student Services
1. Proposal: The reason for the request to transfer funds is because Ivan Chung’s department spends and has spent money from their budget for the needs of the international students, and essentially, the ISA and International Student Services both serve the same body of students.
I am proposing that the bulk of whatever balance is left in ISA’s budget be transferred to Ivan’s account, for the purposes of:
1) Reimbursing Ivan’s department for costs that he paid for some of our events
And;
2) Helping Ivan and his department to prepare for the needs of international students over the Summer (International Student Orientation, etc).
2. Amount Requested: $1500
3. Problems with Status Quo: With regards to number 2, the ISA Student leaders (for the year 09’-10’) will not be in the US over the Summer, so Ivan and his department will be bearing the brunt of the expenses and preparation work for such important events as the International Student Orientation week (going on intensively from Aug 17-20, with events continuing for about a month).
With the departmental budget cuts, Ivan’s budget is sorely in need of funds, and I figured that since the money we have left in our ISA budget is already supposed to be used for the needs of international students – it would make sense to transfer that remainder to Ivan so that it can be properly used.
