SUBJECT:
1. Proposal: That the A.S. Club Director be written into the A.S. Constitution with provisions for an official department, including and independent budget, possibility of a hired staff and a more formal outline of the department’s purpose and structure.
2. Amount Requested: $0.
3. Problems with Status Quo: As it is now, it has become evident that A.S. Clubs have grown tremendously over the past year. However, because of this growth I believe that this position has grown separate of Spirit Board and should be designated as its own chair. The dynamics of this growth and budget make it conceivable that this position should be made a chair.
4. Miscellaneous: While it has been suggested that a hired staff member be added to the department, this proposal does not include that stipulation; it simply affords the possibility of such a move in the future.

A.S. Clubs Director
Establishment and Government of the Associated Students Clubs Director
SECTION I: NAME This department shall be named the Associated Students (A.S.) Clubs Director and shall be a permanent department under the A.S. Services Branch.
SECTION II: PURPOSE The Clubs Director shall be responsible for all the student clubs on campus. In addition, the Clubs Director shall be there to facilitate the creation of new clubs and facilitate leadership for the existing clubs.
SECTION III: MEMBERSHIP 1. The Clubs Director shall consist of the following and members: i. Clubs Director Chairperson ii. Clubs Director Assistant (1) iii. Clubs Director Staff 2. The Clubs Director may/shall also include other hired and volunteer staff as deemed necessary by the Chairperson, and approved by the Vice-President of Services. 3. All members of the Clubs Director staff shall fulfill their duties and responsibilities as set forth in the A.S. Handbook.
SECTION IV: NATURE OF APPOINTMENT 1. The Clubs Director Chairperson shall be appointed by a hiring committee made up of the outgoing chairperson, the incoming Vice-President of Services, and an applicable advisor. 2. All other Clubs Director staff and volunteer positions shall be appointed by the Clubs Director Chairperson and approved by the Vice-President of Services.
SECTION V: ACCOUNTABILITY/ADVISORS 1. The Clubs Director Chairperson is accountable to the Vice-President of Services and the A.S. Advisor. 2. The Clubs Director Assistant and Volunteer staff are accountable to the Chairperson.
SECTION VI: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BOARD 1. The Clubs Director Board shall be responsible for serving as a liaison between clubs and A.S. 2. Maintain and organize all club paperwork. 3. Help facilitate the growth and nurturing of all clubs on campus. 4. Help plan and facilitate the club info night, club funding, and club fair. 5. Keep the student body informed on all aspects of club formation, events and contacts via A.S. Website.
